Starting lineup:
C- Noah
PF- Gooden
SF- Deng
SG- Hughes
PG- Hinrich
6th man- Gordon
7th man- Nocioni
There is absolutely no way that Gooden shouildnt be starting. It is a joke if he doesnt, we need a lowpost option so bad and we now have one. He needs to start, he gives us that dimension. And in the 14 minutes he rests, those minutes need to go to Gray. That way we have a post option to keep the defense honest at all times, unless we're going small for 10 minutes where Tyrus can post up smaller forwards like say Al Harrington or Kevin Durant.
Tyrus is a small forward, a tweener. I understand eveyrone wants to be happy and get high on the young guy, but we have a good chance of going on a tear with the roster we have and getting that 6 seed... we need to WIN.
Tyrus is a quick-forward, if you want him starting he shoujld be taking Dengs spot (YEAH RIGHT), which could be an option until Deng is 100% but is absolutely not an option once he is 100% healthy.
Tyrus should be our 3rd big, getting 20 minutes a night rotating in as the frirst big off the bench behind Noah and Gooden. Our PF when we go small as well.
Duhon should be getting minutes when Kirk comes out as our backup Pg. This takes away from Thabo's minutes but oh well. Hughes is better than Thabo as a big guard on both ends of the floor and can get to the foul line and lock down better on the Wade's of the world. Those are BIG for us. And the backup 2guard and 6th man is Ben Gordon, a role he is GREAT in. Duhon needs to be out there with the 2nd unit because we need a PG with them, period. Gordon can play with the starters or 2nd unit just like Nocioni as our 6th and 7th men..... but Duhon is just more important to our team winning. Sefolosha is a 3rd string 2guard on our team, yes he would be a good backup on most teams but not here. Gordon and Hughes are just better served for us winning and we can thrive with that. Duhon needs to be on the floor when Hinrich isnt for those 12-14 minutes a game that he is resting on the bench. PERIOD.
I know there is a logjam but Boylan needs to do what it takes to win, not what it takes to make this team happy. I really beieve with what we got that we could go on a 19-8 tear to finish the year and get to 41 wins, possibly getting the 6 seed and getting a 2nd roudn matchup. THAT WOULD BE GREAT! If we can land the pistons than we have a good shot at beating them as well, we're a matchup nightmare for them espevcially now that we have Gooden and Hughes.
Boylan is not doing his job if Gooden isnt starting. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE to not have him starting. A lineup of Hinrich/Hughes/Deng/Gooden/Noah with Gordon as 6th man and Tyrus and Nocioni as the main guys off the bench supported by Gray as backup center against big teams and Duhon as backup pg each getting about 10 minutes a game could REALLY REALLY THRIVE. THAT IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE........ If Boylan goes the other way trying to make everybody happy and not doing what is best for the team to win than he FAILS. And he definitely shouldnt be back next year if that is the case.
Lets get real here, with a Tyrus/Noah frontcourt we have no post option and are vastly outsized. If Thabo is starting at the 2 we have no one that gets to the foul line and creates a penalty, we have a severely offensively challenged lineup and his defense isnt as good as Hughes either! Thabo should get some spot minutes and fill in when someone is struggling out of Gordon and Hughes, or if he fits the matchup PERFECTLY, but that is it. PERIOD.

I DONT THINK YOU GUYS REALIZE JUST HOW GOOD A HINRICH/HUGHES/DENG/GOODEN/NOAH LINEUP WITH BEN AS 6TH MAN CAN BE. I REALLY DONT THINK YOU REALIZE HOW GOOD IT WILL BE.
-NOAH GIVES US A HUSTLE/DEFENSIVE/REBOUNDING/ENERGY/PICKSETTING/GARBAGEMAN CENTER THAT CAN RUN THE FLOOR AND GUARD THE PICK AND ROLL. GOOD HANDS AND WILL FINISH OPEN LOOKS UNDERNEATH THAT BIG BEN DIDNT.
-GOODEN GIVES US THE LOWPOST DIMENSION ON OFFENSE THAT WE HAVE NEVER HAD TO KEEP DEFENSES HONEST AND HAVE AN INSIDE GAME OPEN UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE, PLUS A TRUE POWER FORWARD TO BANG WITH THE KG'S AND BOOZERS OF THE WORLD. SHOULD BE OUR PRIMARY INTERIOR OPTION ON OFFENSE AND MAIN PICK/ROLL OPTION WITH KIRK RUNNING IT MOSTLY, DUHON AND GORDON RUNNING IT AT TIMES.
-DENG SHOULD NOW BE OUR LEADER, HE IS OUR NEXT ALLSTAR AND HSOULD BE NUMBER 1 OPTION ON OFFENSE, GREAT DEFENDER AT THE 3 AS WELL, HE NEEDS TO BE OUR MAIN MAN FROM NOW ON IN ALL WAYS!!!
-HUGHES IS OUR BIG GUARD AND SLASHER THATS A VERY GOOD DEFENDER AND A GOOD SCORER AND SHOOTER WITH THE BALL IN HIS HANDS THAT MAKES PLAYS WITH THE BALL AND CUTS WITHOUT IT, HE GETS TO THE FOUL LINE AND GETS OTHER TEAMS IN THE PENALTY. HE IS SEFOLOSHA WITH MORE EXPERIENCE AND BETTER ON OFFENSE AND DEFENSE.
-HINRICH IS OUR PG, THE GENERAL. A VERY GOOD PLAYMAKER, GOOD SHOOTER, RUNS AN OFFENSE EFFICIENTLY AND WELL, DOENST TURN IT OVER, VERY GOOD ON DEFENSE, RUNS PICK/ROLL WELL, AND CAN SCORE WELL TO KEEP DEFENSE HONEST......
-AND BEN GORDON IS OUR MICROWAVE OFF THE BENCH AS 6TH MAN, THE ROLE HE IS GREAT IN AND NOW WE HAVE THE PERSONNEL TO REALLY MAKE IT WORK WITH HIM 100%. THIS WILL BE OUTSTANDING.
THEN WE HAVE A VERY GOOD AND DEEP BENCH IN RESERVE FILLING OUT OUR ROTATION IN ROLES HELPING THE TEAM WIN: DUHON, THABO, TYRUS, GRAY, AND ESPECIALLY NOCIONI.
PLUS NOT ONLY ARE THEY MUCH BETTER OFFENSIVELY WITH THAT STARTING 5, MUCH MORE WELL ROUNDED, BUT ALSO THAT WHOLE STARTING LINEUP IS FILLED WITH GOOD DEFENDERS!!!!
THE ONLY THING CLOSE TO A KNOCK IS THAT GOODEN IS AN AVERAGE TEAM/HELP DEFENDER, BUT IS A MUCH MUCH BETTER MAN DEFENDER ON BIGS IN THE POST THAN ANY OTHER PF OPTION WE HAVE. THE ONLY OTHER KNOCK IS NOAH'S REBOUNDING WHICH MAY BE A BIT LOW FOR A CENTER (SAY 7 A GAME INSTEAD OF 10), BUT THAT IS MADE UP FOR BY GOODEN BEING A VERY GOOD REBOUNDER IN DOUBLE DIGITS, AND DENG A GOOD SIZED AND VERY GOOD REBOUNDING SMALL FORWARD, PLUS HUGHES AND HINRICH AS A BIG BACKCOURT THAT ARE BOTH GOOD REBOUNDERS FOR THEIR POSITION.
THEY HELP ON THE BOARDS, GOOD SIZE, VERY GOOD DEFENSE, BETTER GETTING TO THE FOUL LINE, AND ARE MUCH BETTER OFFENSIVELY WITH 5 OPTIONS INSIDE, OUTSIDE, SLASHING, MIDRANGE, ETCETERA...... WHAT IS NOT TO LIKE?!?!
GOT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN BOYLAN. THAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT IN ORDER TO WIN. I cant believe how many people actually think differently.
