I'm getting tired of the anti-Arenas atmosphere here. Why not set yuour sights on the far more famous (and whiny) guys like Lebron James, and Dwyane Wade? Gil isn't determining whether he's healthy or not by the national tv listings, and he wasn't handed a title.
HSCS--You won't hear any anti-Wade talk on this blog (at least from me) b/c I grew up in S. Florida and thus was born** and bred a Heat fan and further thus was nearly brought to ecstatic tears last summer by his heroics. The lingering joy from that title allows me to take sour comments like "he was handed a title" with something approaching Zen-like equanimity. They don't get me angry; they don't stir to me argument; they just elicit feelings of pity and sorrow for those too blinded by hatred to truly behold D-Wade's brilliance.
You'll find a more sympathetic ear from me on LeBron, but to his credit, he didn't drive a stake through our hearts in the playoffs two years ago. Plus, he's not as lionized as Agent Weirdo in the blogosphere (NOT to say the national media), so slagging him won't get as many bloggers' danders up as slagging Agent Weirdo. I'm not going to attribute this to the other bloggers here at TYI, but part of my nature (probably too much) is gleefully contrarian, and so against Agent Weirdo I am. (But the mother fucker also knocked us out of the playoffs, man! Why should any self-respecting Bulls fan (who didn't also grow up in D.C.) forgive that shit?)
**(Technically, not "born," as they didn't come into existence until a decade or so after my birth.)
